Tell us a little bit about your past theatre experience. Ever performed at Centre Stage?
I was bitten by the theatre bug at a very young age. Growing up with parents who are both performers, I have always loved the stage! I am so excited to be back for my third Rock Show at Centre Stage (previous shows include Juke Box Heroes and Heart & Soul). Other than the Rock Shows, I’ve performed at Centre Stage in Ghost: The Musical, Christmas Cabaret, and the annual New Play Festival! .
Tell us what it’s like to be singing such iconic songs. How are you tackling songs from such powerhouse artists?
It’s a cool thing to be able to sing such iconic songs. You get the challenge of sticking to the essence that the song is known for while still making it your own. That’s what I love about these kind of shows, the audience is going to know most of the music, so it’s our job to make it fresh and new for them!
Tell us about your favorite moment or song (you choose) in the show!
There are SO MANY great songs and moments to choose from, but I think my favorite has to be Purple Rain by Prince. It’s just always been one of my favorites!..I also love hearing the guys sing Sherry!
What artists do you draw inspiration from when you’re preparing for a show like this?
With shows like this, especially since the cast is playing a lot of their own instruments, I think it’s important to draw inspiration from those artists who “do it all.” Those who perform through their instruments, their voice, their choreography. Artists like Prince, David Bowie, Carol King, Stevie Wonder…
What/Who would you list as the top band/artist of all time?
That is an impossible question to answer. There’s so much great music out there that is constantly evolving and being reintroduced. If you ask me this week, I could say something completely different than what I would say next week! I love it all!
Anything else you’d like our audiences to know about you?
I am a huge advocate for local arts! Go see live theatre!! …..I also love naps.
