2008 Southeastern Theatre
Critics Symposium

Arts writing has a direct impact on the overall perception and, ultimately, the quality of the art and the audiences' response to that art. Therefore, well-written, objective and insightful reporting is essential to the cultural health of any community.

Theater criticism, when done well, should offer a substantive critical response to a production rather than simply a recommendation for the public to attend or stay at home. It should ultimately benefit everyone involved through educated analysis and observation.

The 2008 Southeastern Theater Critics Symposium will offer a remarkably affordable venue for professional development, peer review and networking tailored to the specific needs of arts journalists. Please check back in early 2008 for symposium details and registration information.
