Review: 'God Committee'
a powerful experience

"... expert direction ... excellent ensemble ... creates a state of tension with strong emotional pull ..."

when the Heart Transplant Selection Committee of St. Patrick’s hospital have only minutes to decide which of three patients will receive a heart that has suddenly come available.  Mark St. Germain’s suspenseful drama places the audience in the board room as this team is placed in the uncomfortable position of playing God.  A cross between Twelve Angry Men and ER, The God Committee takes us into the inner workings of a transplant program and a decision, for both their candidates and their program, that is a matter of life and death.

Dale SavidgeWho's Who
Director Dale Savidge, Chair of the Theatre Department at North Greenville University, has gathered an ensemble cast of some of the Upstate’s finest actors, featuring Dr. Lou Buttino as Transplant Unit director Dr. Jack Klee. Dr. Buttino served as a maternal fetal medicine specialist in the US Air Force for 11 years with a teaching hospital. He also had a 19 year civilian career, most recently with Mary Black Physicians Group of Spartanburg. He experienced first hand debates of risk and limited resources when he served on Ethics Boards and Committees much like the one seen in The God Committee.

Making their Centre Stage debuts are Greenville’s favorite funny man,Todd Weir, in his first dramatic role in eight years as transplant surgeon, Dr. Alex Gorman; Bruce Meahl, as the wise-cracking social worker, Dominick Piero; Rod McClendon, as Father Charles Dunbar, the priest sent to ensure that the proceedings are free from bias; and Britney Teie is the young Dr. Kierra Banks. Making her Greenville stage debut is Lorry Houston, a veteran of stage, film and television, who recently relocated to Greenville, in the role of Nurse Nella Larkin. Returning to Centre Stage for the first time in three years is Catalina Keller as Dr. Ann Ross.
